Bern, Switzerland

Bern Cathedral -- The exquisite stained glasses that make up the choir windows date back from 1450, twenty-nine years after the Berners laid down the first cornerstone of the cathedral they dedicated to St Vincent. All windows would not be completely installed for another two centuries, and they are continually being maintained even today, following countless hail storms.

Like other major cathedrals throughout Europe, the spire -- tallest in Switzerland -- welcomes hardy visitors to scale its heights via dizzying spiral stairs.

These photos are taken with the Nikon D100 digital camera and the Nikon D f/2.8 20mm lens.
